KEARNS — A man wanted in connection with a West Jordan domestic violence incident early Tuesday morning who barricaded himself in a home and threatened to harm himself and others was taken into custody, police said.
Police responded to a report of a domestic violence case in West Jordan about 1 a.m., said West Jordan Sgt. J.C. Holt.
Officers returned to the area shortly before 2 p.m. and the man ran into a home, located 4402 W. 6130 South, and barricaded himself from police, Holt said. He added others were inside the home when the man ran into it, but the other people were all able to leave the home.
Police found the man hiding in the house and took him into custody with K9 assistance, police said Tuesday night. Residents were asked to avoid the area during the standoff but officers cleared the scene and restrictions are lifted.
Holt said the man, who was not identified, has "a long history" with police. The man was being transported to jail, the West Jordan Police Department said via Twitter.
