SOUTH SALT LAKE — A 23-year-old motorcyclist died Tuesday after colliding with an SUV in South Salt Lake Saturday, officials said.

Marcos Villagrana, of Sandy, was driving his motorcycle south on State Street just before noon when an SUV made a U-turn on State Street at 3750 South in front of the motorcycle.

Villagrana was unable to stop and his motorcycle crashed into the back of the SUV, according to South Salt Lake police spokesman Gary Keller.

Villagrana was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, Keller said. He died about three days later at 8:38 a.m. Tuesday.

The 49-year-old driver of the SUV was not injured in the crash.

The crash is still under investigation.
