SALT LAKE CITY — Though Memorial Day is often considered the unofficial start of summer, this year's holiday brought several storms to the state.

Throughout the long weekend, areas across Utah experienced unusual weather from thunderstorms and hail to tornadoes.

The National Weather Service confirmed that the funnel cloud-like feature spotted near Strawberry Reservoir Monday afternoon was "likely a non-supercell landspout tornado." See more photos and videos of it here.

We also have several more photos from Utahns who got an up-close look at the unusual weather as they were out celebrating Memorial Day. Browse through the gallery to see storm clouds, sunsets, rainbows and more.

And be on the lookout for photo opportunities this week so we can feature your photos in our next user-submitted gallery.
