MAGNA — A 10-year-old boy is in critical condition after a crash on eastbound state Route 201 closed the road in Magna Monday morning, officials said.
A car rear-ended another vehicle carrying a father and his three children near 7200 West about 9:30 a.m., according to Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Todd Royce. The father's 10-year-old son was transported in critical condition to a local hospital via medical helicopter. The two other children were transported in an ambulance in fair condition.
Eastbound state Route 201 closed completely, and all traffic was diverted at 8000 West. The road was clear by 11:30 a.m., Royce said.
Troopers believe the rear-ended vehicle was slowing down for a light when it was hit. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, according to Royce.
