TAKING YOU OUT TO THE BALLGAME — It’s springtime in Utah (even if you wouldn’t always know it from the weather).
With BYU advancing to the NCAA Tournament with its 10th-straight conference championship, we thought it appropriate to dedicate a segment to the diamond.
Of course, “King James” had to make an appearance, too.

BYU softball ends regular season with Catch of the Year candidate
The BYU softball team wrapped up its fifth-straight West Coast Conference championship.
That’s not news, as the Cougars have won 10-straight conference titles, including every championship since the WCC sanctioned the sport.

What was newsworthy, though, was the final play that ended it.
Watch Caitlyn Larsen Alldredge secure the latest title with a fly-ball save into the dugout—cleats up—with a 3-2 lead over Loyola Marymount in the top of the seventh in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader.
The play even made SportsCenter’s Top 10.

BYU will open the NCAA Tournament at 4 p.m. MT Thursday in the Eugene regional against Missouri Valley champion Drake.
Move it like Mookie
Alldredge wasn’t the only one who laid out for a catch this weekend.
Mookie Betts proved he probably belongs in the discussion for yet another Gold Glove.
The Boston right fielder laid out after a dead sprint toward the foul line to rob Toronto’s Richard Urena of a base hit — and a potential run, with Kendrys Morales standing on second base.
Instead, Betts saved the run and recorded the third out of the fourth inning during the Red Sox 5-3 win over the Blue Jays.

LeBron’s magic memory
There were a lot of questions asked after the Cavs lost the first game of the Eastern Conference finals to Boston, 108-83.
The most basic of the questions, as asked by one sports reporter of Cleveland star LeBron James, was simple: "What happened?"
Here’s the thing, though: if you ask for something simple, James will give you a simple answer.
