THE FRONT YARD — We all know moms who take a lot of pride in their yards.

We know moms who go gaga for flower beds stuffed full of blossoms; we know moms who hang dozens of wind chimes around the porch and yard; and we know moms who lure birds into their yards with bird baths, houses and feeders.

Each of these come with their own nature-related problems to solve, but only bird feeders bring all the squirrels to the yard. And they will steal all the birdseed in one day if they go unchecked. It’s a tough nut to crack. (No, I’m not sorry about that terrible joke.)

This featured video was posted by a son who took particular delight in the way his mom solved the squirrel problem at her bird feeder. It isn’t the first time someone thought of this solution, but it’s always pretty hilarious to witness the outcome.

All it takes is a little oil on a metal stand and a squirrel who is a little slow to learn, and you’ve got a few minutes of solid entertainment. Add man giggles to the experience, and it’s even better.

Happy Mother’s day to all. And on behalf of anyone who wishes to jump on the bandwagon at KSL.com, we hope your squirrel-defeating dreams come true so you can bring all the birds to the yard.
