OREM — Crews have temporarily repaired a gas leak after an explosion took place at an unoccupied Orem building on Thursday, officials said.

The explosion took place just before 2:10 p.m. near 800 S. State St., Orem Fire Department officials said on Twitter.

Utah County dispatchers said the explosion took place at an unoccupied building and there were no injuries.

State Street was closed at 800 South as of 2:30 p.m., and Orem fire officials asked people to avoid the area, according to the agency's Twitter account.

Later on Thursday, fire officials said the road would be opened by about 5:30 p.m.
