SALT LAKE CITY — The Jazz would not be beaten.
In a game sometimes resembling more of a fight than a basketball contest, the Utah Jazz defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 113-96. Rookie Donovan Mitchell led the way with 33 points, hitting several critical shots and driving to the rim repeatedly throughout the game.
But Mitchell wasn't alone. Joe Ingles added 20 points, going on a barrage in the second quarter to wrest the lead away from the Thunder, a lead the Jazz would never relinquish.
Rudy Gobert once again stifled the Oklahoma City offense, and added 16 points and 10 rebounds as well.
Seven technical fouls were given in the game: Paul George, Steven Adams, and Raymond Felton all earned one for the Thunder. Quin Snyder, Ingles, Gobert, and Jae Crowder all drew one for the Jazz. Crowder was ejected on his technical for an elbow to the face of Adams.
