ZION NATIONAL PARK — Authorities are seeking information about the recent poaching of a pregnant cow elk within Zion National Park.

Part of the elk's hide and gut pile were found in Lee Valley off Kolob Terrace Road, according to an emailed statement from the National Park Service and the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.

The agencies believe the elk was killed about Jan. 20.

The elk hunting season ended in late 2017. Hunting in the national park is illegal.

Information leading to the arrest and conviction of the violator will result in a reward of $2,000 "due to the importance of this incident," the National Park Service said.

Anyone with information about the poaching can call or text the National Park Service Investigative Services Branch tip line at 888-653-0009 or email nps_isb@nps.gov.

Those with information can also submit a tip online at www.nps.gov/isb and click "Submit a Tip," or send a tip via social media on Facebook to @InvestigativeServicesNPS or Twitter at @SpecialAgentNPS.
