SCIENCE — How fast can you solve a Rubik's Cube?

For me, the answer is an infinite amount of time, because as of Monday at 1:15 p.m., I still have not ever solved a Rubik's Cube.

This is a fact I'm perfectly fine with. I haven't spent a lot of time trying to solve Rubik's Cubes and I don't feel like I'm missing out on much by not having experienced success in this realm. But unfortunately, this means I'll be at even more of a disadvantage in the robot uprising because now we have robots who can solve Rubik's Cubes at unbelievable speeds.

How will this help the robots in their inevitable world takeover? Your guess is as good as mine. I can't see the future (if I could, we wouldn't need to have this conversation because I'd obviously know how to prevent this uprising). I just know that robots get smarter and smarter every day, and this video is evidence of that.

Yesterday's Have You Seen This?

The video shows a complicated robot device solving a Rubik's Cube in less than half a second. If you blink, you'll miss it (which I'm sure the robots are counting on). It happens so fast, you might not believe it's real. But fortunately, the video then shows a slowed down version so our sad human eyes can comprehend what's happening.

It's a pretty cool video, and if you want a full explanation of how this robot was built, head here. Whether this all leaves you impressed or scared, I'll leave up to you.
