TOOELE — One person was hospitalized after a hit-and-run crash that involved a stolen vehicle Saturday evening.

At around 4:30 p.m., a Dodge pickup truck traveling on Main Street swerved into another vehicle and ran it off the road, causing both vehicles to collide near 900 N. Main Street, according to Tooele Police Sgt. Rob Benson.

The truck driver fled the scene of the crash and a witness followed, but the driver eventually abandoned the Dodge and took off on foot, Benson said. Officials later determined the Dodge was stolen.

The driver of the vehicle that was struck was transported to a nearby hospital with possible broken bones, Benson said.

Authorities are still trying to determine if this was a case of road rage or if the drivers knew each other.

The truck driver police are searching for is described as a 5-foot-6 male with a “stocky build.” He has a darker complexion and is believed to be Hispanic.

The incident remains under investigation.
