PROVO — A high school soccer coach has been charged with engaging in sexual conduct with a teenage girl.

Trevor Lawrence Ott, 31, of Salt Lake City, was charged Feb. 2 in 4th District Court with five counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a 16-year-old, a third-degree felony.

Ott was the head coach for the Summit Academy High School girls soccer team and assistant coach for the Bingham High School boys soccer team. He resigned from his position shortly after his arrest, according to the Summit Academy.

Ott met a teen girl on social media. Their communication was "of a sexual nature" and they exchanged pictures with each other, according to charging documents.

According to a newly unsealed search warrant, Ott picked up the girl on two occasions — once from her house and another time Ott picked up the girl at her high school.

She communicated with Ott using the app Whisper, the charges state.

"After their first sexual encounter, the victim blocked Ott to cease communication. Ott later reinitiated contact with the victim via Instagram and arranged a second sexual encounter," according to the charges.

The girl later reported to Springville police what allegedly happened. He was arrested Jan. 29.

In a prepared statement, Summit Academy said the school does not believe any of its students were victims of Ott.

An initial court appearance is scheduled for March 8.
