ADORBSVILLE — When I was in college I went on a date to see "The Notebook."
The movie did not interest me and at no point was I ever close to tears. After the movie, my date looked at me with wet eyes and was in shock at my total lack of emotion. She then wiped the mist from her eyes and said, "You are a soulless monster."
I do not agree with her assessment and ever since I have been searching for the absolute Soulless Monster Test. For the longest time, I had not found what I would consider a true test of what could stamp someone as a shell of a human with no soul, but I think my search is finally over.
This video may be a few years old, but clearly not nearly enough people have seen it. Paige Park played some fiddle music in an African village for some kids who had never heard anything like it before. The kids are so anxious to start dancing that every time a note is played they start to dance and then stop immediately while Park jokes with them and stops the music. Park then plays full out and the kids' bodies cannot handle it. They start dancing and it seems nothing will stop them. The looks on their faces are pure and unadulterated happiness.
Sunday's Have You Seen This?
Now, here comes the test, if watching this video didn't make you smile then I think it's fair to say you're a soulless monster. Well, maybe not a monster, but I feel like you need more joy in your life and maybe this is a good place to start.
