WEST VALLEY CITY — A juvenile was transported to the hospital in stable condition after being shot Saturday evening, police said.

West Valley City Police Lt. Amy Maurer said police were called around 7 p.m. to respond to a scene of what looked like a group of people arguing at 3980 S. 5600 West.

When officers arrived, they found a juvenile male had been shot after a dark SUV pulled up alongside the group and fired on the vehicle containing the youth. Police did not have the age of the victim nor did they say how many people were involved in the incident.

The SUV then sped away on 5600 West until witnesses lost sight of it, Maurer said.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the department's dispatch, she added.
