SALT LAKE CITY — Jake Parkinson has resigned as chairman of the Salt Lake County Republican Party, the organization said in a Facebook post Saturday.

The resignation is effective immediately, according to the post. Jennifer Jensen, who was previously the vice chairwoman of the party, becomes the acting chairwoman following Parkinson’s resignation.

“We thank Jake Parkinson for his dedicated and tireless service to the party and to all Republicans in Salt Lake County and throughout Utah,” the party said in the Facebook post.

The reason for Parkinson’s resignation was not immediately known.
