COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS — One person has died after being hit by a car on Monday evening, according to police.
The crash took place just before 8 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Fort Union Boulevard and Highland Drive in Cottonwood Heights. The crash was a hit-and-run, Cottonwood Heights Police said on Twitter.

The victim was in serious condition following the crash, and later died from injuries suffered in the accident, according to Cottonwood Heights Police Sgt. Ryan Shosted. He did not provide any further details.
Eastbound lanes of Fort Union Boulevard were closed in the area, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.
The victim has not yet been identified, pending family notification.
