SALT LAKE CITY — Though it’s easy to get caught up in the Christmas festivities, most Christians celebrate the holiday to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ.

For those searching for a congregation this holiday season, here’s a non-exhaustive list of six churches that will be holding Christmas services:

Cathedral of the Madeleine (Catholic)

Cathedral of the Madeleine is located at 331 E. South Temple in Salt Lake City. The cathedral will hold several Christmas services.

Dec. 24

• 5 p.m. - Christmas Carol Service with the Cathedral Choir
• 7 p.m. - Mass (Vigil) with the St. Nicholas Choristers
• Midnight - Mass at Midnight with the Cathedral Choir and Orchestra (bilingual)

Dec. 25

• 8 a.m. - Mass
• 10 a.m. - Mass
• Noon - Mass with the Cathedral Choir and Orchestra
• 3 p.m. - Mass in Spanish with the Cathedral Spanish Choir
• 5 p.m. - Vespers and Benediction with the Cathedral Choir

Washington Heights Church (Baptist)

Washington Heights was established in 1956 with locations in South Ogden and Downtown Ogden. Christmas Eve Candlelight Services will be held at the South Ogden campus Dec. 24 at 2 p.m., 3:15 p.m., 4:45 p.m. and 6 p.m. at 1770 E. 6200 South. Regular Sunday morning services will not be held.

“We will enjoy Christmas songs, lots of holiday cheer and a Christmas message,” the church’s website reads.

South Mountain Community Church (Protestant)

South Mountain will hold “Hidden Christmas” and Candlelight services in Draper, Lehi, South Jordan, West Jordan and St. George.

• Draper Christmas services will be held Dec. 23 at 6 p.m. and Dec. 24 at 9:45 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. at 14216 S. Bangerter Pkwy.
• Lehi Christmas services will be held Dec. 23 at 6:30 p.m. and Dec. 24 at 9:45 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. at 520 S. 850 East Suite B1
• South Jordan Candlelight services will be held Dec. 23 at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at 4125 Foxview Dr.

1. West Jordan Christmas services will be held Dec. 23 at 6 p.m. and Dec. 24 at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. at 9324 Hawley Park Rd. 2. St. George Christmas services will be held Dec. 24 at 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m., and 6 p.m. at 3158 East 2000 Christian Life Center (Interdenominational Christian)

Christian Life Center was established in 1952 at 2352 East Highway 193 in Layton.

The center will hold a Christmas Eve Sunday Morning Worship Service Dec. 24 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The Spanish service that normally meets at 1:30 p.m. will join with the English service at 10 a.m. Christmas Eve Candlelight Services will be held Dec. 24 at 4 p.m.

“In this season of gift-giving, let us not forget the greatest gift of all that came in the form of a baby born in a manger,” the center’s website reads.

Alpine Church (Nondenominational Christian)

Alpine Church has locations in Riverdale, Layton, Logan, West Haven, Brigham City, Huntington and Syracuse that will all hold Christmas services.

• Brigham City services will be held Dec. 24 at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. at 58 S. 1275 West
• Riverdale services will be held Dec. 24 at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., noon and 11 p.m. at 5050 S. 1275 West
• Layton services will be held Dec. 23 at 5:30 p.m. and Dec. 24 at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and noon at 254 W. 2675 North
• Logan services will be held Dec. 24 at 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. at 395 S. Main

1. West Haven services will be held Dec. 24 at 9:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at 4433 S. 3100 West 2. Syracuse services will be held Dec. 14 at 10:30 a.m. at 848 W. 1600 South Suite 102 3. Huntington services will be held at 10 a.m. with a candlelight service at 6 p.m. Dec. 24 at 500 S. Main St., otherwise known as Desert Edge Christian Chapel K2 the Church (Christian)

K2 the Church is a relatively newer Christian church that came to Utah in 2003 and held its first service in 2004. The church will hold Christmas Eve services at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at 5049 Murray Blvd. in Murray.

The church’s vision is “to be a church with reckless faith in Jesus Christ fleshed out in sacrificial love, service to those in need and a commitment to draw people into an ever-deepening relationship with God."
