SCRANTON — Old TV shows making comebacks is very much in vogue right now.

The "Will & Grace" revival has been a solid show for NBC and has even garnered multiple Golden Globe nominations. Other shows making a comeback include "Roseanne," "The X-Files," "Gilmore Girls," and "24," to name a few. The latest show to possibly join that list is the much-loved comedy, "The Office."

NBC's "The Office" ran for nine seasons (from 2005 to 2013) and was argued to be one of the best TV shows of the 2000s. Despite dropping off in quality in later seasons, the show is still beloved by many and Rotten Tomatoes has it ranked as the 18th best TV show of the last 20 years.

It's now rumored that NBC is planning a revival of "The Office."

According to TVLine.com, "Sources confirm to TVLine exclusively that the Peacock network is eyeing a continuation of the beloved workplace comedy for the 2018-2019 season."

Just before the new version of "Will & Grace" launched, NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt said he'd be very interested in a visit back to Scranton.

"We often talk about 'The Office.' I’ve talked to Greg (Daniels) four times over the past few years," Greenblatt told Deadline. "It’s always, ‘Maybe someday, but not now’. There is certainly an open invitation, but we don’t have anything happening right now. If he wants to do it, I would do it.”

If this actually happens, it will likely be missing Steve Carell, who is now enjoying a thriving movie career. Carell left the show in its seventh season, which is also when it seemed to lose its way. Considering the busy schedules of Ed Helms and John Krasinski, it also seems unlikely that Andy and Jim would be coming back. And if there's no Jim, I doubt there would be Pam, so probably don't expect Jenna Fischer to make a return either.

Possible returning characters would be Rainn Wilson's Dwight, Angela Kinsey's Angela, B.J. Novak's Ryan, and other supporting characters.
