MIDVALE — Unified police are asking for the public’s help to locate a man who is wanted in connection with an armed car theft that took place on Saturday.
At about 5:30 p.m. Saturday, an 83-year-old woman pulled into a parking stall near 939 East Creek Hill Lane. The woman was about to unload groceries from her car when she was approached by a man armed with a handgun, according to UPD Lt. Brian Lohrke. The man put the gun toward the woman's abdomen area and told her to "get out of here, it's not worth it," Lohrke said.
The woman complied and the man left in her vehicle — a white 2001 BMW 330Ci with Utah license plate D290YF.
Lohrke said Sunday the woman was very frightened but unharmed.
"She did not put up a fight and struggle, which we encourage people to do. Do what you need to do to survive the situation," Lohrke said.
The man is described by police as an Asian man who is about 5 feet 8 inches tall. Police believe he is armed with a black handgun.
