LEHI — Two brothers, ages 8 and 11, were hospitalized after being struck by an SUV Saturday evening.
Lehi police responded to an accident near 500 W. 700 South shortly after 6 p.m. The boys were crossing the street at an intersection on the way to a church activity when they were hit, according to Lehi Police Sgt. Robert Marshall.
The man told police he stopped at the intersection’s stop sign, but the area was dark and he did not see the boys when he proceeded forward, Marshall said. The driver stopped again after he hit the boys.
The 8-year-old boy was taken by medical helicopter and the 11-year-old was transported by ambulance to Mountain Point Medical Center.
Conditions on the boys were not immediately available. Marshall said the older boy was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons.
The SUV’s driver, a 37-year-old man, was cooperating with police and was not visibly impaired, Marshall said.
