Man stabbed by hitchhiker in West Jordan, police say

WEST JORDAN — A man was stabbed by a hitchhiker he picked up in West Jordan Wednesday night, police say.

The motorist told police he picked up the hitchhiker near 7000 South and Redwood Road around 10 p.m. They drove to 3800 West and Old Bingham Highway, where the hitchhiker punched the man then stabbed him in the lower torso, according to West Jordan police.

The hitchhiker fled and has not been located. He is described as a Hispanic male, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a thin build.

The motorist drove himself to a hospital. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
