CEDAR CITY (AP) — Brandon Better scored 26 points, Jadon Cohee added 25 — both career highs — and Southern Utah beat Long Beach State 94-89 on Wednesday night.

Better was fouled on a driving layup with 1:12 remaining and it bounced in off the back rim. He added the free throw for an 88-86 lead. Southern Utah made its next six free throws — with four by Better — to seal it.

LBSU's only field goal in the final three minutes came on Deishuan Booker's 3-point play with nine seconds left. Better made two of his seven free throws at the other end.

Christian Musoko had 14 points and 10 rebounds for Southern Utah (5-3), which plays at No. 3 Michigan State on Saturday. Jamal Aytes added 12 points and Jacob Calloway 10.

Bryan Alberts led Long Beach State (4-7) with 25 points and Gabe Levin added 24.
