SALT LAKE CITY — A man was shot in the leg early Sunday morning after he confronted a group of people who were vandalizing his roommate’s car, Salt Lake City police Lt. Russ Amott said.

The 23-year-old man’s gunshot wound was not life-threatening, Amott said. The man, who was not identified, was shot at about 5 a.m. Sunday near 800 N. 900 West.

The man’s female roommate was told that her car was being vandalized, so the two went to confront the three vandals, Amott said.

One of the vandals took out a handgun and shot the man, and the group ran off toward 900 West, Amott said.

Police are still searching for the three vandals. The alleged shooter is described as a thin, tall white man in his mid to late 20s, Amott said.
