MORGAN — Utah Highway Patrol officials on Saturday identified the teenager who died in a Friday morning crash on I-84.

Hyrum Rasmussen, 17, of Taylor, died Friday after he lost control of his 2002 Hyundai Sonata on the slushy road and crashed into the back of a semitrailer, according to UHP.

The crash took place at about 10 a.m. Friday near mile marker 99 on I-84, near Morgan.

The driver of the semitrailer was not injured. The driver had been heading east on the interstate and had almost completely stopped in the emergency lane, according to UHP.

Rasmussen was not wearing a seatbelt, UHP officials said.
