HELPER, Carbon County — A Salt Lake valley man was arrested Saturday after police say he fled from officers in a stolen vehicle that also contained more than $20,000 in stolen construction equipment.

Tyson Brent Anderson, 36, was arrested and booked into the Carbon County Jail on suspicion of reckless driving, fleeing from an officer, failing to stop at an officer’s command, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property and possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, according to Helper Police Chief Trent Anderson.

Chief Anderson said a Helper police officer responded to a report of an individual driving recklessly in Price Canyon. When the officer located the vehicle, a Dodge pickup truck towing a Jeep on a trailer, the driver fled east on state Route 6.

Authorities from the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office, Price City Police Department, Wellington City Police Department and Utah Highway Patrol assisted in the vehicle pursuit as it entered Price, where the vehicle pursuit ended when the truck reached a dead end in the area of 300 South and 400 West. The man driving the vehicle, later identified as Tyson Anderson, then fled on foot and was eventually apprehended by officers, the police chief said.

Police later discovered the vehicle and the trailer were stolen and contained stolen construction equipment. The chief said Helper police were working with various Salt Lake police agencies to return the stolen items.

Tyson Anderson was previously arrested by Salt Lake police in August on suspicion of theft by receiving stolen property, failing to respond to an officer’s command and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was formally charged in October and a warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to show at a court appearance on Oct. 30, according to court documents.

Court documents also show Tyson Anderson has a lengthy criminal history in Utah.
