PROVO — Provo police are searching for a man accused of barricading a woman in a public restroom and forcing her to disrobe Monday night, according to Provo Police Lt. Brian Taylor.
A young woman was hiking in Rock Canyon with a group of friends around midnight when she decided to turn around by herself to use a public restroom. She was confronted by a man who barricaded her in the restroom and demanded she take her clothes off, Taylor said.
As she did so, she was able to call a male friend and left the call on so he could hear what was happening. He quickly returned and confronted the man who fled, according to Taylor.
The man is Caucasian, in his late 20s to 30s, between 5 and 6 feet tall and 185 pounds, Taylor said. He has a pockmarked face, acne scars, a beanie pulled down to his eye line, teeth that appeared to be filed flat across the surface and a large knife with a 10- to 12-inch blade and engravings.
Anyone with information regarding the incident can call 801-852-6342.
