SALT LAKE CITY — Utah was trying to avoid a third-straight loss for the first time in four years Saturday at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

BYU was trying to avoid a seventh-straight loss for the first time since 1968.

Both teams failed. What happened?

Former Utah defensive lineman Christian Cox and BYU linebacker David Nixon are back to break down the Utes’ 30-10 home loss to Arizona State and Tyler Huntley’s return to the starting quarterback spot. They also turn their attention to the Cougars, who almost certainly will not be going to a bowl game for the first time since 2004 after a 33-17 loss at East Carolina.

But all is not lost, college football fans: Jordan Love and Utah State overturned a 21-7 deficit to rally past UNLV, 52-28.

And in late-night highlights, Patrick Tyler threw for 183 yards and three touchdowns as Southern Utah (5-2) knocked off its second FCS top 25 opponent in as many weeks with a 46-28 win over No. 8 Eastern Washington in Big Sky play.
