1. Utah fire crews, Mormons in California aiding wildfire victims

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in California are helping people who have been displaced due to recent wildfires that have scorched the area, according to a news release from Mormon Newsroom. Several fire agencies from Utah also were sending crews Saturday to help battle the flames.

2. Michigan man dies in I-15 crash near Nephi

A 20-year-old man from Michigan died early Saturday after a crash on Interstate 15 near Nephi, according to Utah Highway Patrol. The crash happened at about 6:27 a.m. Saturday near mile marker 214 on the highway, about 10 miles southwest of Nephi.

3. 276 killed in deadliest single attack in Somalia's history

The most powerful bomb blast ever witnessed in Somalia's capital killed 276 people with around 300 others injured, the country's information minister said early Monday, making it the deadliest single attack in this Horn of Africa nation. The toll was expected to rise.

4. Teen girls critically injured attempting to cross Perry highway

Two teenage girls were hit and critically injured attempting to cross a highway here Sunday afternoon. The two girls, ages 14 and 16, were attempting to cross U.S. 89 near 3484 South about 4 p.m. when they were hit by a northbound pickup truck, according to Perry Police Sgt. Scott Hancey.

5. Christofferson brothers share how they remained 'as one'

Nearly 40 years ago, Tom Christofferson told his family he was gay. The initial reactions from his parents and brothers varied but their love for him never changed. This KSL television special — "That We May Be One: A Gay Mormon's Perspective on Faith and Family" — shares the story of Christofferson's spiritual journey.

1. Tyler, Southern Utah hand Weber State first conference loss

Patrick Tyler threw for 276 yards and three touchdowns, and Parker Logan caught six passes for 118 yards and two scores as Southern Utah handed the Wildcats their first loss in Big Sky play, 32-16 Saturday night at Stewart Stadium.

2. Utah's offense a tale of two halves in loss to USC

Utah quarterback Troy Williams needed 3 yards to give the Utes an upset victory over the USC Trojans, but was tackled short of the goal line on a 2-point conversion with under a minute to play. The failed attempt gave the Trojans a 28-27 victory in an important South Division matchup.

3. Turnovers, lack of consistency hurt Utah State in loss to Wyoming

Wyoming gave the Aggies a taste of their own medicine. The Cowboys forced five USU turnovers (two fumbles, three interceptions) in a 28-23 win at Maverik Stadium in front of over 22,000 fans.

4. 'Backs against the wall' as BYU falls to historically bad 1-6

Nick Fitzgerald passed for 241 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 103 yards and two scores as Mississippi State took a 35-10 win Saturday afternoon that handed BYU a sixth-straight loss for the first time since 1968.

5. Real Salt Lake pushed to brink with 1-0 loss at Colorado

Thirty times, Real Salt Lake pushed forward on the road against its Rocky Mountain rival, looking for a goal that could all-but cement their postseason status Sunday evening.

The goal never came.
