SOUTH SALT LAKE — Police are searching for a peeping Tom after receiving several reports from an apartment complex in South Salt Lake, including one early Wednesday morning, according to South Salt Lake Police Executive Officer Gary Keller.

Police received a call from a woman who said there was a man peering in her window at Mountain Shadow Apartments at 3825 S. 700 West just before 5 a.m., Keller said.

Officers were dispatched to the scene, and one officer pursued the man on foot before losing him in the darkness. Police dispatched their bloodhound, but the dog eventually lost the scent trail, Keller said.

Officers are still surrounding the area, according to Keller.

South Salt Lake police have received five reports of a peeping Tom at the apartment complex, the first on Aug. 24. The officers are taking it very seriously, Keller said

Witnesses have described the alleged peeper as 5 feet 5 inches tall, in his mid-20s, with shoulder-length, dark, curly hair. He was wearing a green hoodie Wednesday morning, Keller said. Police do not know the man's nationality.

Those who see the man peering in their window should call 911, Keller said, and anyone with information can call South Salt Lake police at 801-412-3600.
