KITCHENER, Canada (CNN) — Not all heroes wear capes. This one had on a wedding suit.

Clayton Cook had just gotten married and was getting some wedding photos taken with his wife, Brittany. The pair was on a bridge over a lake in Victoria Park in Kitchener, Canada.

That's when Cook noticed something alarming.

A child had fallen into the water and seemed to be drowning.

The suited-up groom ran off the bridge and jumped in. He grabbed the boy by the forearm and pulled him to safety.

The couple's wedding photographer, Darren Hatt, was able to capture the rescue.

"I was the last one to see anything," Hatt told CNN. "When I spun around, Clayton was there already scooping the child and putting him back on the ground."

Hatt told CNN the boy and his friends were playing by the lake when he fell in. The incident happened Friday.

"That's Clay to me. It doesn't even surprise me that that happened," Brittany Cook told CNN newsgathering partner CTV. "It's something he would just instinctively do."

"How different would everyone's day have been if we weren't in the right place at the right time?" she added.

After the rescue, Clayton Cook didn't even change out of his soaking suit. Instead, Hatt said, he went about his special day without complaining once about his wet shoes.
