SALT LAKE CITY — Draper City Councilwoman Michelle Weeks is headed to the November ballot as the favorite in the city's mayoral race after topping incumbent Mayor Troy Walker by more than 10 percentage points in Tuesday's primary election.

Weeks collected nearly 47 percent of the vote to Walker's almost 37 percent, according to unofficial results late Tuesday.

Walker received sharp criticism in March after many of his constituents rejected his offer to locate a homeless resource center in Draper.

While the final reports of the night include results from all early voting locations and mail-in ballots received, verified and processed, many vote totals were still outstanding.

Ballots submitted late Tuesday or received via mail and postmarked by Monday's deadline will still take several days to process. Ballots from voters who have recently moved to Utah but have not updated their addresses must also be processed by elections officials.

Updated vote totals will be released at 2 p.m. Thursday and Friday.

The top two candidates in each municipal primary will advance to the Nov. 7 general election.

In Sandy, six-term mayor Tom Dolan had 49.7 percent of the reported vote, leading challengers Kurt Bradburn, who had 38.6 percent, and Gary Forbush, 11 percent.

With Midvale's initial reports, Robert Hale led the mayoral race with 30.4 percent, and transgender candidate Sophia Hawes-Tingey followed in second place with 24.2 percent. Mont Millerberg followed with 15 percent.

Taylorsville Mayor Larry Johnson was down more than 13 points, with 40.8 percent of the vote, to Kristie Steadman Overson, who led with 53.9 percent.

In Murray, former four-term mayor Dan Snarr leads the race with 41.9 percent of the vote to City Councilman Blair Camp's 33.8 percent and Salt Lake County Councilman Richard Snelgrove's 19.7 percent.

Draper City Councilman William Rappeleye collected 20 percent of the vote to trail challenger Tasha Lowry, who had 26.6 percent. Mike Green followed with 16.8 percent and Dan Wheatley at 15.8 percent.

West Valley City Councilman Steve Vincent was in third place with 27.9 percent of the vote, while Jake Fitisimanu Jr. had 40.2 percent and Lynn Sanderson had 31.8 percent.

Utah County

As initial results came in for Provo, Michelle Kaufusi led a crowded mayoral race with 32 percent of the vote. Odell Miner followed with 23 percent of the vote, with Sherrie Hall Everett at 18 percent.

Davis County

In the race for Bountiful mayor, initial reports had Dean Collinwood with 26.2 percent of the vote, taking a slight lead over incumbent Mayor Randy Lewis, who had 25.6 percent.

Weber County

In Roy, Robert Dandoy had a 16-point lead in the mayoral race as initial results showed him with 51.9 percent of the vote, followed by incumbent Mayor Willard Cragun at 35.8 percent.
