IN A JAZZ UNIFORM — It’s NBA summer league season, but there are still plenty of reasons to talk about pro basketball — both on and off the court.

A former NBA star wants Jazz great John Stockton back in the league, Ricky Rubio put on a show in Spain, and Trey Burke may be a little bit upset about his departure from Utah.

Isiah Thomas wants Jazz great back in the NBA

Isiah Thomas and John Stockton were fierce competitors in their playing days, but the NBA Hall of Fame guards shared a remarkable bond off the court.

Thomas introduced Stockton during the ex-Utah point guard’s Hall of Fame induction ceremony in 2009. And Sunday, he made his pitch for “Stock” to come back to the NBA during an NBA summer league broadcast.

“I think our game misses his knowledge," Thomas said. "John Stockton should be a coach in our game, or a GM, or something. He has too much basketball knowledge to be sitting on the sideline.

“Stockton needs to be in this league.”

Following his NBA retirement in 2003, Stockton coached his six children in youth ball, assisted the Jazz on a handful of special assignments, released his autobiography and spent time as a college coach at Montana State in 2015.

Time will tell if Stockton will take Thomas up on his invitation.

From one Jazz point guard to another: Newly acquired Spanish passer Ricky Rubio was spotted at his annual basketball camp in Spain this week.

And the 26-year-old former Minnesota guard had plenty of tricks up his sleeve.

Is Trey Burke still salty on Utah?

Finally, former Jazz point guard Trey Burke let his emotions go on Twitter this weekend.

The current Washington Wizards guard responded to a local podcast’s tweet that said Burke “wasn’t talented enough” with a few crying emojis — and a sharply worded rebuke to Salt Lake City.
