EUREKA, Juab County — Utah Highway Patrol identified a man Thursday who was killed after the vehicle he was driving collided with a semitruck Wednesday night.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce said Brian J. Jones, 38, of Eureka, died from injuries suffered in the crash.

Emergency crews responded to a report of a crash on state Route 36 near the border between Tooele and Juab counties shortly after 6:40 p.m., Royce said. Jones was driving a gray Honda Civic traveling in the northbound lane when the vehicle drifted over the center line, Royce said. A semitruck traveling in the other direction attempted to avoid the Civic by moving to the right, but Jones' vehicle struck the axles of the trailer.

The Civic then spun off the right shoulder of the roadway. Crews extricated Jones from the vehicle, but he died from his injuries, Royce said.

The driver of the semitruck was not injured. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
