Design changes on a dime, and sometimes it is tough to pull several great ideas together into one space and have it all hang together. New developments in the burgeoning corner of southwest Salt Lake County and the surrounding area offer brand new homes that are thoughtfully designed with smart layouts, beautiful exteriors, and best-of-all, they’re ready to accommodate expanding families, new families, empty nesters and the business-minded successful single – even amid the housing boom.

This year’s Parade of Homes (July 28 to August 12) includes six Parade homes + 28 other model homes in Daybreak located in South Jordan. The homes featured come in a range of styles and sizes—from charming contemporary townhomes with lofts to modern family homes with exposed brick. And the best part, the builders in Daybreak are showcasing the latest design trends that won’t break the bank if you plan your options wisely. Daybreak homes featured in the Parade start in the $200’s. Here are some trends you’ll see as you explore

LOFTS ARE BACK

Cue the modern-industrial movement in home design. Daybreak features both a townhome and a single-family home with a loft vibe in this year’s Parade. And the best part, it is exploding with mixtures of texture while maintaining the airy nature of a loft.

MIXED METALS

The eclectic mix of finishes on fixtures is also on display in this year’s Parade homes. Designers are encouraging homebuyers to disregard the homogenous look of draping your home in one metal finish. Mixed finishes give character and depth to space allowing the personality of a home to shine. One metal that is making a comeback is brass. And it is fabulous, offering a less expensive alternative to introduce a sophisticated spark to a home.

OUTDOOR LIVING VS. YARD

Nobody really wants to maintain a yard, but we all love functional outdoor space for entertaining. Look for well-designed outdoor living options during the Parade that really extend the square footage of the home. The use of french doors or bi-folding sliding doors allows an easy flow between indoors and out.

TILE HEAVEN

Classic subway tile is still an interior decorators dream. However, you will see it mixed with other tile to add depth to a room. Mixing inexpensive tile with a decorative tile also helps your budget, but gives you that luxury feel when you walk into a kitchen or bathroom. So, while you are looking around don’t forget to look down, you may miss the best part of the home.

EXPERIENCE LIVING HERE

Come make a day of it. All summer is the high season for neighborhood events in Daybreak, and you’re invited to join in the fun. While you’re visiting Daybreak during the Parade of Homes, you get to feel what it’s like to actually live here. With outdoor concerts, Stage 4 of the Tour of Utah, a huge summer block party, and even a colorful celebration of Indian culture during our Bollywood celebration.
