ADAMSVILLE, Beaver County — A 76-year-old man and woman are dead after an apparent murder-suicide Saturday evening, officials said.

Around 6:35 p.m., police received a call from a man who told them he had killed his wife and was going to kill himself, said Beaver County Sheriff Cameron Noel. The man then told police they could find his body under a tree outside, Noel said.

Police arrived at the home where the call originated from and discovered the man and woman were both dead. The woman was bed-ridden and suffered from dementia, Noel said.

The couple had been living in Adamsville for about five years after they both retired, according to police.

The man did not have any history of mental illness, Noel said.

Officials did not release the couple’s names, pending family notification.
