OGDEN — Sara Hingsberger delivered a three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning, and Weber State’s softball team went on to blast Boise State 8-0 in the final game of the Ogden regional of the National Invitational Softball Championships at Weber State.

“Winning a regional championship is pretty special,” Weber State coach Mary Kay Amicone said in a release. “I’m just so happy for our seniors who get to keep playing. It was fun to see some seniors have great days with (Mackenzie Corta) and (Sara Hingsberger) coming up big in Game 2.”

The Wildcats (36-20-1) advanced to the championship round of the first-year tournament in Lynchburg, Virginia, eliminating the Broncos, Utah State and San Diego. The Aggies were playing in their first postseason tournament since 1993.

Weber State, the No. 5 seed, will face fourth-seeded and tournament host Liberty at 5 p.m. MDT Sunday.
