SALT LAKE CITY — Utah has the ninth most popular governor in the country, while the state's two U.S. senators are about middle of the pack among their colleagues, a new poll shows.
Herbert has a 64 percent approval rating, while 28 percent disapprove of the job he is doing, according to a Morning Consult survey.
The two most popular governors — Charlie Baker of Massachusetts and Larry Hogan of Maryland — are Republicans in traditionally blue states. Baker had 75 percent and Hogan 73 percent.
New Jersey GOP Gov. Chris Christie is the least popular with a dismal 25 percent approval rating, the poll shows.
Among senators, Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, ranks 41st with a 56 percent approval rating, while 27 percent disapprove. Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, is 62nd with 53 percent approving the job he is doing, while 36 percent disapprove, according to the poll.
Vermont Democratic Sen. Bernie Sanders' 75 percent approval rating made him the most popular senator. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., was the least popular with a 44 percent approval rating.
More than 85,000 registered voters across the country evaluated the job performance of their governors and senators from January 2017 through March 2017 to determine the rankings, according to Morning Consult.
