SALT LAKE CITY — An outage in central Utah caused 13,416 customers to lose power Wednesday morning.

Customers in Sevier, Sanpete, Wayne, Piute and Garfield counties, as well as surrounding areas, were without power since about 9:30 a.m., according to the Sevier County Sheriff's Office.

According to Rocky Mountain Power, the outage was due to a mechanical failure with a volt buss at the Sigurd substation in Sevier County. Power was restored a couple hours later.
