SALT LAKE CITY — Several days after the story of a Boxer at the Humane Society of Utah went viral, the dog has a new home.
Rhino Lightning was dropped off at the Humane Society in early February. Officials there said he was a little too exuberant with the family's young child. When the family gave Rhino up, the young girl left a tiny spiral notebook detailing how much she loved the "amazing puppy" that she called a "striped dream."
"His cheeks make a lot of slobber. Please let Rhino know that I love him and miss him every night," the girl wrote.
She also left instructions, telling Rhino's new owners not to get him tennis balls because he can tear them up in one day. She also had a request for the people who give him a new home.

"His full name is Rhino Lightning, and then your last name. Please don't rename him," she wrote.
The Humane Society recieved calls and emails all weekend after news of the little girl's letter spread online.
"We had a lot of calls from out of state, even across the country!" said Deann Shepherd, the Humane Society of Utah's director of communications.
Some families visited Rhino through the weekend, but it wasn't until Monday afternoon that the right one came along.
Rhino Lightning will have a new home in Clearfield, where his new owners say he'll have plenty of room to run and enjoy his new life.
