SALT LAKE CITY — Two schools were placed on lockdown Monday morning after police responded to investigate separate bomb threats.
Hillside Middle School and Highland High School both received bomb threats and were placed on a precautionary lockdown just before 11:30 a.m., according to Salt Lake City School District officials. Police responded to both schools to investigate, although they were unsure of the credibility of the threats.
Just after 12 p.m., Highland High School was evacuated so police could “intensify their search and bring in dogs to aid in the search,” school district officials said. School was canceled and parents are being allowed to pick up their children from the high school.
The lockdown at Hillside Middle School was lifted just before 12:30 p.m. after nothing was discovered in the search.
More information will be posted as it becomes available.
