BOUNTIFUL — If you've been browsing YouTube for interesting videos in the past few months, you've probably noticed the influx of videos with "glowing knives."

The concept of these videos is simple: take a super hot knife, so hot that it glows, and cut something. This concept seemed bizarre to me until I finally watched this video.

The Bountiful crew behind the Waterjet Channel had certainly noticed the glowing knife trend and decided to test it out against their tool of choice: a 60,000 PSI waterjet.

Yesterday's Have You Seen This?

First, they show off the power of the glowing knife, and even I have to admit, it's cool to watch. My favorite part is when they attempt to pop microwave popcorn with the hot knife and the bag just immediately catches fire.

"So it looks like this is just as effective as using a microwave," a member of the team declares when one kernel finally fully pops.

After showing how effective the hot knife is at cutting things easily, they put it to the real test. Is it stronger than the waterjet?

It turns out the answer is no. Even though the team picked one of the thickest, strongest knives they could find, the waterjet has no trouble cutting through it. If you want to see more of the power of the waterjet, you can watch it carve a pumpkin and a turkey.
