TOOELE — A U.S. Army recruiter who taught a class at Tooele High School has been charged with raping a student.
Brian Joseph Dragon, 32, of Herriman, was charged Wednesday in 3rd District Court with three counts of rape, a first-degree felony.
Dragon is accused of engaging in an illegal sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl. The alleged sexual activity happened in a portable classroom at Tooele High School, according to charging documents.
Another student told police that "Brian Dragon routinely locks the door on a portable classroom with a 17-year-old female student inside with him," charges state.
Dragon and the teen stayed in the office portion of the portable where the windows are covered, according to the charges. The teen told investigators "they had sex three times in the office," charges state.

Dragon was an instructor at the high school for a Students Taking Active Roles course, a military-type class, but was not a school district employee.
He was arrested in Herriman and booked into the Tooele County Jail. Police said they do not believe there are additional victims.
Jeff Ross, public affairs officer for the Salt Lake City Army Recruiting Battalion, said Dragon had been a detail recruiter for the U.S. Army since 2014, working mainly in West Valley City.
A person assigned as a detail recruiter is in that position for three years and is then sent back to his normal assignment, Ross said. Dragon was an infantryman.
Dragon has been removed as a recruiter pending the outcome of the investigation and is no longer an instructor at the school, officials said.
