MURRAY — A 25-year-old was critically injured after a vehicle fire early Wednesday morning, police said.

The fire occurred near 1300 E. Maplewood Drive around 1 a.m., according to Murray police. Witnesses said they heard explosions and then saw an SUV on fire. A 25-year-old was transported to Intermountain Medical Center, but was later taken to the University of Utah burn center in critical condition.

Police are still unsure how the vehicle fire started and the fire department is investigating the incident. Details about if the victim was driving or had parked the vehicle at the time of the fire have not been released.
