SALT LAKE CITY — A man who allegedly attacked his former roommate and attempted to use a stun gun on her when she jumped out a window to escape was arrested over the weekend.

Dean Roan, 20, of Salt Lake City, was arrested Saturday for investigation of aggravated assault.

Police say a woman who had lived with Roan for two months but recently moved out went to his residence near 2500 South and 900 East just after 2 p.m. to collect her belongings, said Salt Lake Police Sgt. Brandon Schearer.

The meeting turned into a "heated argument," according to a Salt Lake County Jail report, and Roan "produced a BB gun and held it on the victim for several hours while he beat her," according to police.

When the woman tried to escape by jumping out a window, Roan attempted to use a stun gun on her leg, Schearer said.

In December 2015, Roan pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct in South Salt Lake Justice Court in a domestic violence-related incident, according to court records. A warrant was issued for his arrest in that case in August for failing to appear for a scheduled court hearing.
