SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Jazz waived SF Chris Johnson before Saturday's practice, the team announced. The move means the Jazz's roster contains 15 players, the maximum allowed as the roster deadline nears.

Johnson's former Jazz teammates understood the move, but were still disappointed to see Johnson leave. Point guard Dante Exum called Johnson the hardest working player he's ever been around, and Rudy Gobert tweeted this after practice:

> Good luck to my bro Chris Johnson. This guy is a NBA player, and a tough one. > > — Rudy Gobert (@rudygobert27) [October 22, 2016](https://twitter.com/rudygobert27/status/789906210023694336)

The move also means that Joel Bolomboy, Raul Neto, and Jeff Withey's roster spots are probably safe for now, barring a surprise cut. Bolomboy's spot was essentially sealed after he signed a 3-year deal. Neto and Withey both have shown the ability to contribute to the Jazz since being signed in the summer of 2015.
