Utes move up to No. 19 in latest AP Poll, No. 18 in Coaches Poll

SALT LAKE CITY — Despite the “weird” feel to Utah’s 19-14 win over Oregon State Saturday, the Utes moved up in the national rankings for the second consecutive week.

Utah moved up to No. 19 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll, improving two spots from last week's ranking of No. 21, and No. 18 in the USA Today Amway Coaches Poll, improving three spots from last week’s ranking at No. 21. It's the fifth consecutive week this season the Utes have been ranked. Also included in the rankings from the Pac-12 is Washington, who remained at No. 5 in both polls in its bye week.

Arizona State, which was previously ranked No. 24, dropped out of the Coaches Poll after losing to Colorado 40-16. Teams receiving votes from the Pac-12 include Colorado, Washington State, Stanford, and Arizona State.

Alabama continues to show its dominance in college football and remains No. 1 overall after a 49-10 dismantling of No. 18 Tennessee. Behind the Crimson Tide is Ohio State, Michigan, Clemson and Washington in the AP Poll. In the Coaches Poll, Alabama is followed by Ohio State, Clemson, Michigan and Washington.

Five teams ranked in the Top 25 lost on Saturday, including Miami, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, and Wisconsin; however, only Miami and Virginia Tech lost to unranked opponents.

Highlighting the week in Top 25 matchups in No. 1 Alabama and No. 6 Texas A&M. Other matchups between ranked opponents include No. 17 Arkansas and No. 21 Auburn.

Utah will conclude its two-week road trip at the Rose Bowl Saturday, facing a UCLA team in need of a win for bowl hopes at 2 p.m. on FOX.
