PROVIDENCE, Cache County — A 26-year-old woman from Logan was taken off life support Sunday following a crash that killed her 3-month-old son, officials said.

Norma Barriga was driving north on state Route 165 Thursday evening at the intersection of 1700 South when she turned her Hyundai sedan left in front of a pickup truck that was driving southbound, according to Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Jason Kendrick. The truck hit Barriga’s passenger side, pushed her car into another car at the intersection, and rolled over onto the southbound shoulder.

Barriga’s 3-month-old son, Andy Barriga, died from injuries Friday at Primary Children’s Hospital. Barriga died at a hospital in Ogden, officials said.

The pickup truck driver, a pregnant woman, was transported to the hospital with broken bones and cuts, according to UHP.
