SALT LAKE CITY — If you have been following the news over the past week, it may be starting to feel like the whole state is on fire.
Several big wildfires were burning throughout the weekend, including one on Antelope Island that had burned nearly 14,000 acres by Sunday, and several residents in Layton and Syracuse submitted photos. The fire was 80 percent contained as of Sunday afternoon.
Several pictures were also sent in of a large industrial fire in Clearfield that caused significant damage.
A separate fire also broke about 4 miles southwest of Scipio, with a lightning-caused blaze ravaging about 5,000 acres. Fire officials said the blaze burned through pinyon-juniper and oak brush and it was 15 percent contained by Sunday at 9 p.m. Residents sent in several photos of the flames.
