ORANGEVILLE, Emery County — Police are investigating after a woman was found dead and a man was hospitalized with a gunshot wound Sunday.

The Emery County sheriff's and county attorney's offices said in a release Monday that police responded to a call for a welfare check Sunday and found the deceased woman. The man was found with a gunshot wound to his torso and was hospitalized.

The cause of the woman's death remained under investigation Monday, according to the release. No further details about the man's medical condition were released.

Both offices declined to answer questions about the investigation Monday. No additional details, including the time and location of the incident, were released.
