SALT LAKE CITY — Reports are surfacing that Utah basketball guard Kenneth Ogbe has expressed his intention to transfer from the program, becoming the seventh player to transfer in the last year. Ogbe only played in five games for the Utes last season due to injury.

CBS Sports basketball insider Jon Rothstein was the first to report on Ogbe's intentions, tweeting Thursday "Utah's Kenneth Ogbe told @CBSSports that he will transfer."

Kyle Goon of the Salt Lake Tribune followed up Friday morning with, "Kenneth Ogbe intends to transfer to UVU. Utes may keep an open scholarship this year."

ESPN700 host and Voice of the Utes Bill Riley confirmed the report, "Kenneth Ogbe is leaving the Utah program on his own accord. His health/playing status uncertain. One possible destination for is UVU."

NCAA transfer rules allow players who have already graduated to play immediately for other teams, bypassing the normal rule of having to sit out a year.

Interestingly enough, the Runnin' Utes are scheduled to play Utah Valley this season on Dec. 6.

Ogbe battled multiple injuries while playing for Utah, only playing in 22 games combined over the last two seasons.

He averaged just over 5 points per game in 2015-16.

With the latest news, Ogbe becomes the seventh Ute to transfer from the program this year. Ogbe joins Brekkott Chapman (Weber State), Makol Mawien (New Mexico Junior College), Brandon Miller (Dixie State), Austin Montgomery (Dixie State), Chris Reyes (Pepperdine) and Isaiah Wright (San Diego).

Ogbe's departure leaves only four returning Utes with playing time last season: Kyle Kuzma, Lorenzo Bonam, Gabe Bealer and Jake Connor.
